Intro:
Arguably this is the battle of the underachievers in this year's Diamond Boxing Tournament. Jesinta Campbell (1-4) has come into the tournament holding the ACB welterweight title and hoping to show that Aussie boxing is in a wonderful place. She hasn't succeed so far. Bridgette Satterlee (3-2) on the other hand looked like a possible contender to win the entire tournament, now she is down to fourth in the rankings with results needing to go her way to possibly win it.
They both spoke on camera about their thoughts. Jesinta did her video at her hotel room. She is sitting on the end of her bed wearing a white blouse, black skirt and bare foot. Jesinta shakes her head almost not knowing what to say.
"Look I can't exactly say that things have went great for me. This tournament has been a slog. To think I thought I'd win it all and instead I am looking towards the bottom of the rankings. Well Bridgette I am going to f**king beat you. You think holding the what... AMD title.. what the f**k is that?! I hold a real title. I can't lose to a joke like you." Showing how pissed off she is by this situation coming for Bridgette verbally with some real disrespect.
Bridgette meanwhile isn't particularly happy either as she does her video sitting by her swimming pool. Wearing a black one piece swimsuit. She tells the camera "I am getting sick of me and my title not being treated with any respect. First that bimbo Alice Goodwin, then I lose to Valery f**king Kaufman."
Clenching her fists. Bridgette then says "Jesinta I am going to make an example of you, then I am going to beat Antje (Utgaard) to finish this tournament strong. Then I don't want to hear anyone trying to put me down."
Fight Night in Saint Louis's Enterprise Center. First to walk to the ring is Jesinta with her coach Nikki Visser behind her. Jesinta is looking annoyed already as she sees people chanting Bridgette's name, with a few telling Jesinta she is going down. The Aussie stunner steps into the ring wearing a green sports bra with gold trim, matching trunks and shoes, gold coloured gloves, while her hair is tied into a ponytail. She bounces on her toes in her corner as Nikki tells her to ignore the noise around her.
Bridgette then heads out with her stablemate Jess Bush. She marches ahead of Jess towards the ring with her eyes firmly on the ring. She is wearing a black sports bra with white stripes down the sides, matching trunks, black boots and shoes, hair tied into a ponytail. Bridgette steps into the ring with a nod to Jess that she has got this.
Both fighters jog to the middle of the ring. A few words are exchanged that are certainly not friendly. The referee finishes their instructions and telling both fighters to touch gloves. It's a quick swipe of their gloves with their opponent before they jog back to their corners. The bell rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1:
On her toes, Jesinta is landing several stiff jabs out the gate. Bridgette responding by landing around the chest of the Aussie to try to get into her head. Problem for Bridgette is that Jesinta is landing over the top into her face in reply.
Bridgette comes back at Jesinta in the second minute with a more variety of attacks, forcing the ACB champion to retreat back near the ropes. Jesinta shows her skills to sidestep a right coming at her body, landing a counter jab/right hook into the face of Bridgette to knock her back.
Now it's Bridgette being knocked back across the ring by a flurry of punches into her face. Bridgette covering up more tightly as Campbell is working her flanks. The bell rings to end proceedings with Jesinta getting a nasty glare aimed by her opponent, showing how much she has gotten under the skin of Satterlee.
Round 2:
Both step back out with their eyes locked behind their gloves. Jesinta landing again at range with crisp punches as she is showing the skills that made her a welterweight champion. While Bridgette comes back at her with body shots when she can move her way in closer.
An uppercut catches out Jesinta as she came forwards. Bridgette now showing her skill set as she is able to pin down Jesinta to the ropes, working the body of her opponent with hard shots. All that training to be the AMDD champion on show.
Jesinta pushes off Bridgette. Who is keeping the heat on her as they are exchanging close together. More body shots coming from Jesinta but she is playing into Bridgette's hands as the American is landing her shots up and under the ribs of Campbell. At the bell they return to their corners with eyes locked across the ring.
Round 3:
After being told off by Nikki, Jesinta is back on her toes. She is peppering the cheeks of Bridgette to mark them up. Bridgette being forced to Fight at range, not her biggest strength against Jesinta as she is working to try to close in.
Into the second minute; Bridgette gets caught with a counter left across her face when she misses with a wide right. Jesinta again drives back her opponent onto the outside. Swinging in more hooks to the body when she has Bridgette on the ropes.
Pushing off Jesinta, Bridgette manages to get inside to work late in the round. Both women trading in tight with a few scruffy moments of shoving mixed in with them trading body shots. At the end of the round Bridgette shoves off Jesinta. She sits on her stool shaking her head as Jess tries to cool her off.
Round 4:
Resuming with Jesinta again on her toes exchanging at range. Bridgette making mistakes as she shows her temper. Jesinta landing several counter shots. One causes the bottom lip of the American fighter to be cut. Meaning she is groaning with a grimace each time it is hit.
Jesinta forces Bridgette to move around the perimeter of the ring. Slamming two punch combos into the face of the American to make her groan out. Bridgette needing to hold onto Jesinta to slow her down. The referee splits them up with Jesinta looking keen to keep the pressure on her foe.
Bridgette though is showing her toughness to come back at her opponent. Both trading more at midrange as they engage around the center of the ring. Bridgette slams in more punches around the chest of Jesinta to open her up to hooks over the top.
The bell rings to end the round with Jesinta tapping her gloves together as she jogs up her corner. Bridgette is getting cleaned up. She looks like she has cooled off a little as it seems to have sunk in that her going out all guns blazing is only going to get her hurt.
Round 5:
Resuming with both slamming their fists through their opponents guards as they open up more. Jesinta looking good again as she moves over to the left side of her opponent. Bridgette comes back at her by left hook on the cheek and jaw of Jesinta to twist her head.
A straight smacks Jesinta on her nose. That opens her up to a right cross/left hook combo to make her up. Bridgette turning the heat on her foe. Jesinta covering up as Bridgette is whacking in short hooks around the guard. A few punches land square into the belly button of Campbell to make her grit her gumshield.
Pushing off Bridgette so she can get away from her ropes. Jesinta gets into space to work. Both trading flurries as they attempt to drive each other back. They end up clinched up just before the bell dings. The referee pushes them apart as a few words are exchanged before they do head back to their corners.
Round 6:
Stepping out to fight on with more punches being exchanged in flurries. Bridgette dips under a jab to land a right square into the belly button of Jesinta to make her groan out. Jesinta steps back with Bridgette coming after her with hooks over the top to land into her cheeks.
Bridgette pins down Jesinta to the ropes. Pounding the torso of the ACB champion. Jesinta tries to clinch up with Bridgette but gets pushed off. BRIDGETTE LANDS A NASTY RIGHT HOOK INTO THE RIBS OF JESINTA TO MAKE HER CRY OUT! ANOTHER RIGHT SENDS JESINTA DOWN TO HER KNEES AS SHE WINCES!
Stepping over to the neutral corner, Bridgette pounds her gloves together with her eyes locked on Jesinta. 1....2....3....4... Jesinta rubs her side trying to numb the pain. 5....6... She tries to pull herself up. 7....8... But she leans back against the middle rope behind her as she cries out. 9....10 it's all over as Jesinta is counted out!
Winner Bridgette Satterlee KO Round 6
After:
Tapping her abs as Bridgette tells the nearest camera "you don't beat these abs" with a beaming smile. She walks back over to her corner to get a hug from Jess. Who tells her "that's the girl I know. You kicked her ass." Making Bridgette chuckle as she thanks her friend for her support.
Jesinta needs help over to her corner with an ice pack pressed against her ribs on her left side where there is a red mark. She has tears running down her cheeks. Nikki helps her out the ring to get her back stage as she is pained. Jesinta shakes her head angry at the world it seems how things are going for her. She has one fight in the tournament, Lorena Rae is her remaining opponent in the ring. On paper that is a bout she could win, the question is where will her head be then.
On the other hand Bridgette looks like she has her right hand raised in victory. She looks back to her confident self as she flexes her arms at the cameras. Jess taps her friends biceps with a wink to the camera, showing the friendship with each other they have.
Out the ring go the duo. Bridgette has a major fight with Antje Utgaard in the final tournament bout. Bridgette has to be at her best to win that bout. She certainly won't shy away from taking the fight to the hard hitting Antje in a month's time. |
